PLAN YOUR WORK, WORK YOUR PLAN
Any successful chapter will tell you that it all starts and ends with proper planning. Yes, it's time consuming, but there is no question that developing a plan will help your chapter map out the steps to be successful.

The "essential list" includes:

Annual Plan
Blue/Green/Red Chip
Chairman's Planning Guide (CPG)
Mid-year Review
Annual Report

AREAS OF OPPORTUNITY
The Junior Chamber categorizes their programming into four (4) areas, called "areas of opportunity" made up of "commissions".

Business Area of Opportunity

  1. Marketing and Public Relations Commission
  2. Strategic Planning Commission
  3. Financial Management Commission
  4. Business Opportunities Commission

Community Area of Opportunity

  1. Community Service Commission
  2. Community Fundraising Commission
  3. Government and Civic Involvement Commission
  4. Children and Youth Commission

Individual Area of Opportunity

  1. Personal Development Commission
  2. Professional Development Commission
  3. Membership Retention, Growth and New Chapters Commission
  4. Chapter Activities Commission

International Area of Opportunity

  1. State, National and International Junior Chamber Involvement Commission
  2. International Involvement Commission

Membership recruitment activities would be included in all Areas of Opportunity. It is expected that when chapters set goals in each opportunity area, membership goals will be included in each area as well.

RECOGNIZE YOUR CHAPTER AND MEMBER ACHIEVEMENTS
We've all heard it before, "I don't do it for the awards!" But who doesn't like a pat on the back for their hard work and achievement? By taking the time to recognize your chapter's accomplishments and those projects and members that are contributing to the chapter's success, you will develop loyalty and enthusiasm amongst your board and membership.
